Wanna guess where we went last night ? Anyone ? Anyone ?
OK, I'll give you a hint....
Still don't know ? Ok, here's another hint....
The Mister and I saw REM live and in the flesh last night. And it was AWESOME !
And I know you all know how much I love REM.
For the two hours they played I felt like I was 19 again...only this time without all the angst.
Which, when I think about it....it felt as if Micheal Stipe has left all his angst behind as well.
Michael Stipe may not look like much...but man oh man...he has a HUGE stage presence and can really connect with an audience.
For me at least ( and I'm probably not the only one who feels this way ) seeing REM again was like seeing an old buddy that you've not seen for a really long time.
The pictures above are actual photos from the show they did last night. And no, I was not that close to the stage ( I wish ), these were posted on their website.
I have a few other observations from last night as well - don't I always ? Brock and I were trying to figure out what demographic would be the most common denominator attending last night's show. We figured it would be the 30-something crowd and we were mostly right.
However, there were also some oh...50-somethings there as well. And...this really blew my mind.....the Abercrombie & Fitch crowd was seriously representin' last night. Popped collars and all. The 50-somethings didn't bother me so much as I know REM put their first album out in 1983. But the A & F crowd ? Do they know the words to Driver 8 ? I think not.
Go get in your Jetta and go the hell home Brittney, you're gonna miss the My Sweet 16 marathon on MTV2.
We did see two 50 somethings gettin' down to Modest Mouse ( ?) last night. I didn't see this until Brock elbowed me and said " Hey, check out the viagra commercial over there. "
People, if you could have seen what we saw....my god....there was white man's overbite and everything. I busted out laughing - and you guys know how crazy loud my laugh can be when I really get going.
I had some other working titles for today's post. Other than the title I chose I was torn between When Middle Aged People Attack; My Life In A Viagra Commercial
or
Why Didn't Someone Tell Me It Was Urban Outfitters Employee Appreciation Day ?
